The year is 1935, the social centres of the town were the local public houses, people met to sample the local beverages and to play the pub games available at the time, one of these games was darts. (To find the public house select the pub list then Cheltenham GL50-53).

Playing against each other or other local pub players. A few players had the thought it would be good to play against other pubs within the Cheltenham area and in 1936 the structured Darts Competitions were played under the name of The Cheltenham and District Darts League and was sponsored by the local Chelt Brewery.
